퓰리처상 수상 사진작가 린지 아다리오는 남성 위주의 분쟁 사진계에서 전쟁의 현실을 담아내기 위해 목숨을 건다. 하지만 임무를 맡을 때마다 위험 속으로 뛰어들어야 하고, 남편과 어린 두 아들을 뒤로해야만 한다. 카메라 뒤에서 아다리오는 저널리즘이라는 본질적인 사명감과 엄마라는 역할이 주는 강력하고 상충하는 요구 사이에서 갈등한다.
